By what criteria have the 2008 MLB playoff teams been ranked in the lists below (and what would the relevant raw numbers be)? [This becomes easier still when you look at the subtle differences between the lists.]
1. Rays
2. Brewers
3. Dodgers
4. Phillies
5. Cubs
6t. Angels
6t. White Sox
8. Red Sox
1. Rays

2 is interval since last World Series appearance (never, 63, 26, 20, 15, 6, 3, 1), and 3 is interval since last World Series win (never, never, 100, 28, 20, 6, 3, 1).
1 should, therefore, be the interval since last playoff appearance, or maybe the interval since the last division title, but the Dodgers and Phillies are way too high in both cases. Hmm. Oh -- interval since last playoff series won? (never, 26, 20, 15, 5, 3, 3, 1)...yeah, that's it.
(Obviously I had to look up a lot of the specifics in baseball-reference.)
