No, I don't own a business. I have some small percent of a Limited Liability Company, if that counts. The free time I'd spend running my own business would probably come at the expense of that (i.e. at the expense of writing questions, organizing quiz tournaments, etc.).

In what possible sense of the word would it NOT count. In fact, NAQT fits almost exactly the paradigm the guy is talking about. Going through the list:
1. We utilize online communication technology to keep costs low.
2. All the members had (orginially) day jobs.
3. All the members love and are passionate about quiz bowl.
4. It produces a little extra money, enough that one member did replace his day job.
5. I have no idea what this point even means.
6. I guess we will find out.
7. Not really.
8. We are all home-based.
9. Nope.
10. Yup.
