123. 2F18 (SI-618 / S06E20) Two Dozen and One Greyhounds
Santa's Little Helper's frisky nature nets the Simpsons a new dog and 25 spanking new puppies. When Burns steals the young greyhounds, Bart and Lisa set out to discover why he wants them. (originally in Pool 35)
180. 4F23 (SI-823 / S09E02) The Principal and The Pauper
During a surprise banquet to honor his twentieth anniversary as principal, Seymour Skinner's true identity is revealed to be Armin Tamzarian. Now established as an impostor, Tamzarian retires and relocates to his old neighborhood in Capitol City. Guest starring Martin Sheen as the real Seymour Skinner. (originally in Pool 23)
266. CABF14 (SI-1214 / S12E18) Trilogy of Error
In a “Run, Lola, Run” parody, a breakfast accident involving Marge's kitchen knife and Homer's thumb is seen through the eyes of individual family members. While Homer & Marge make a mad dash for the hospital, Lisa takes her linguistic robot to the Springfield science fair, and Bart runs afoul of Fat Tony's illegal fireworks ring. (originally in Pool 2)
See my vest, Armin Tamzarian. See my vest. Maybe I backlash-underrate episodes that get way overrated on a single meme or song, though in this case I think two are obviously better than the other two, with close calls within each pair. Note that highly favorable comments on "Vigilante" last time around (John?) led me to rewatch it on DVD and ultimately agree about its high quality.
1. Homer the Vigilante
2. Trilogy of Error
3. Two Dozen and One Greyhounds
4. The Principal and The Pauper
I actually agree with Matt's rankings (seems like a long time since that happened), though I think there is a small gap in between each of the bottom 3 and a larger gap between those and Homer the Vigilante
Posted by: Miguel at November 2, 2005 11:32 AMI suppose I'd agree with the original rankings - I've not seen Vigilante in a long, long time, but I'm willing to go with the crowd.
I was at least one of the folks standing up for Vigilante, repeatedly. This was sort of by proxy for various other folks who championed the ep back in the day.
1. Homer the Vigilante
2. Two Dozen and One Greyhounds
3. The Principal and The Pauper
4. Trilogy of Error
The Greyhounds one has much more than that song... and Trilogy is, well, interesting and clever without really being all that good.
