Arabic Numerals

I have no idea how I felt about this until (figuratively) 15 minutes ago but I've become quite zealous about using Arabic numerals (i.e. 1, 2, [...]) wherever it's reasonable to do so and dropping the pretention of Roman numerals.

With no Super Bowl happening any time soon, there's really only one context where this comes up, and at that I'm sure I'll waste more keystrokes on this blog entry itself than are saved typing "D2" instead of "D-II."

See, I always like the look of D-II, but I would also rather know that D2 is very rarely mistyped or misread.

Ahh, well, we both know what the other means.

Just wait for the key strokes you will save when we get to Super Bowl 1000.

I most frequently type Roman numerals immediately following the words "Final Fantasy". Sure Arabic numerals are less likely to get confused, require fewer keystrokes, and have the advantage of being sorted correctly by computers, but I'm both a gaming snob AND a former Latin student. I can't help myself. ("Besides, it says 'VII' right on the box!")

Sometimes I will use the Arabic numerals in conjunction with the abbreviation "FF", however.
