Two Songs Overused in TV Ads for Movies

1. Peter Gabriel, "Solsbury Hill" (the Topher Grace movie this year, "Big Fish" last year)

2. Traffic, "Feelin' Alright" (seemingly every comedy of the 1990s)

What Other People Say

While it's not the movies, there's an ad on TV that uses "I Feel Good" by James Brown, and the only think I can think of when it comes on the air is the Soccer Mummy preview on the Simpsons. So instead of looking into financial services or whatever, I keep wondering what Ed O'Neill is up to nowadays.

I would nominate "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5 in this category. I'd also give "Solsbury Hill" a pass given that it's a good song.

My personal fave: "Why Can't I" by Liz Phair, used in the ad for "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!"

Needless to say, they didn't use the part of the verse that goes "Here we go / we're at the beginning / we haven't fucked yet / but my head's spinning."
